Here is a full band clip of us having a great time entertaining for a charity event put on by Orion Communities.
Dustin Beck has been playing and singing all his favorite songs in one way or another for over 20 years. Some nights there may be a parade of requested hits and beloved B sides or it may be more obscure material with a healthy dose of original songs. Whether it's pop, soul, country, rock and roll or rootsy Americana music, the goal is always to have a great time, make memories and end the night knowing our hearts are pumping.
Nothing tops hearing great music played live just for you. Playing out to small crowds or big crowds gives a special feeling to any event and I am comfortable with all kinds from weddings to farmer's markets. Let me help make your event special.
Having a unique point of view is a huge part of being an artist. Not only do I learn from and perform other people's music but I also put out my own music to inspire and entertain people as well.
Sharing and talking about what we do as musicians is how we get more music in the world. Check out these instructional videos and be part of our growing musician family!
Often I play for audiences who have varied taste and are not specifically at the venue to see the live music. I cherish the challenge to not only provide top notch entertainment but also to create a special moment for everyone in the room. I try to have at least a few songs from many different genres and decades without only playing the hit parade but also unique songs you will not hear from anyone but me.
There is nothing like having a live band. The energy is electric as many musicians come together to make one sound and can move with each other as the mood changes. However, there are times when space constraints or other issues prevent it. Using a backing track can be a great way to still get a big sound without all the requirements a full band needs.
I am very inspired by New Orleans music and specifically New Orleans piano players such as Dr. John, Professor Longhair, and Allen Toussaint. I have a wide variety of classic covers all the way up until present day.
I do many songs that may not have been on the top of the charts but everyone knows. It always gets people singing. So many great songs in all different styles!
When there needs to be a little more harmony and some solid solos with a strong base, it's best to get a duo that can sing and play together to create a wider range of sounds.
Sometimes you can't do without the steady beat and excitement that comes from live drums.
When the space allows to bring even more sounds and energy to the room, it is best to get both the rhythm and harmony working together to round out the sound.
This is the standard four piece band. Often I play the bass line with my left hand but having a dedicated bass player really opens the door to other styles and sounds that cannot be achieved when the keyboard player is doing double duty. Bring in the bassman.

Here is a sampler of my latest EP "Passion". All songs written by Dustin Beck. More original music to come and I am also happy to write custom songs or incidental music for any project or event.
Expression through video is extremely important in today's culture. Also incredibly fun to create! Here is a video I made around election time with some fun editing techniques.

Learning to play an instrument and learning to be a human never stop. I continue to grow as I learn from others and I spend time trying to improve my playing by pushing outside my current playing styles. I started to share my findings through instructional videos and it has been very rewarding for me chatting with other people who are on the same journey.
Each artist is unique and approaches the keyboard differently. I have learned from them and taken some of it to incorporate into my playing. It is worthwhile to learn how other people use the same instrument.
Inspiration comes from many places and they don't always use the piano. Sometimes it's best to use the original instrument but I find it intersting to adapt those styles to the keyboard and see what happens.
